Adding and Removing Users to Your Google Analytics Account

How do you add new users to Google Analytics?

From time to time you may need to add users to your Google Analytics Account. This may be for many reasons.

We have listed a step by step guide on adding and removing new users to your Google Analytics Account.

Adding New Users to Google Analytics

  1. Sign into your Google Analytics account using your administrator credentials.

  1. When logged in, click on the ‘Admin’ tab and select the account you wish to share.

  1. Click ‘User Management’.
  1. Under ‘Add permissions for’ enter the email address of the user you wish to give access to and select their privileges (see the bottom of this post for an explanation of account permissions).

  1. Once you’ve entered the email address of the new user and selected their privileges, tick ‘Notify this user by email’ and they will receive an email to alert them that they’ve been added. Don’t forget to click ‘Add’.

  1. Sign into your Google Analytics account using your administrator credentials.

  1. When logged in, click on the ‘Admin’ tab and select the account you wish to edit.

  1. Click ‘User Management’, here you will see a list of users.
  2. Click the ‘delete’ button to the right of the user you wish to remove. This will remove the user and revoke their access to your account

Account Permissions in Google Analytics

Setting the correct privileges for new and existing users is important. To overview the different types of privileges, we’ve overviewed them below.

‘Manage Users’ allows the user to add, edit and manage account users.

‘Edit’ allows users to edit the Google Analytics account i.e. add/edit/delete views, filters and properties.

‘Collaborate’ allows the user to create and share personal views.

‘Read and Analyse’ allows users to see report configuration data, manipulate data within reports and filter reports with secondary dimensions.
